Project IMPACT-Dayton Programs
Project Impact is divided into three major divisions
Prevention Services / Family & Community Development / Educational Enhancement
Prevention Services
Prevention Services works with the entire family, parents and children, to address destructive behaviors that may lead to truancy, delinquency, violence, substance abuse, or family conflict.
The Family/School Success Program (Formerly the Truancy Prevention Project) works with entire families to reduce truancy which leads to aberrant behaviors. Participants are referred by the courts and through a 12 week program are involved in activities that teach goal setting, anger management, and conflict resolution.
The Young Parent Support Program teaches young parents about the issues they will face while raising a child. These include training in substance abuse prevention, effective communication, and the importance of being a good role model for a child.
The Families of Purpose Program uses the “Creating Lasting Family Connections” curriculum to aid in violence and substance abuse prevention training. This program also teaches refusal skills for parents and children.

Community Development and Training
Family WORKS helps individuals retain knowledge and proficiency by focusing on soft skills like motivation and dependability and hard skills like résumé writing and computer dexterity. Individuals learn to adapt these skills to help balance work and a family. Family WORKS stresses the importance of sustaining long-term employment while improving family structure and stability.

Educational Enhancement focuses on making parents responsible for their children’s academic success. Collaborating with the student, parents, and school, Educational Enhancement acts as an extension of the educational and social values represented by the child’s parents and teachers.
This division has three programs – STAND, READY, The Twenty-First Century Program
S.T.A.N.D. or Students Taking A New Direction, is an out-of-school suspension program designed to redirect student behavior and equipping the children for academic success. We strive to reduce repeat suspensions, to modify bad behaviors, and to prevent the use of alcohol and drugs.
R.E.A.D.Y. or Reading Elevates And Develops Youth, is an after-school tutoring program that emphasizes the importance of reading and math skills. Children receive tutoring, as well as learn about different cultures through group and individual educational sessions.
The Twenty-First Century Program is school and community based and works in collaboration with several of the other programs. Children learn from certified teachers through recreational, cultural, and academic activities.
